Dream Plague

I’m sneezing from a dream.

A month ago I was plagued with ill,
An illness that traps the nose,
The mouth, the mind,
It left me wrought.

A week ago I recalled the illness,
A memory long passed
Into decay, my eyes
Seek different now.

A day ago I believed the illness
Could never touch me again,
Now that new illness
Sets itself upon me.

Last night the illness returned
In a dream, in colours
Embracing close,
Held to heart.

Today I am weak once more,
Coughing and sneezing
In tissues that failed
